Track 1 Life and Machines

Aim:
In popular culture, 'artificial intelligence' often takes form of sentient, competent robots, taking over tasks from pilots to lovers. In reality, technology is employed more as an extension of man, augmenting the human ability to remember, travel and build. Currently, tools for human augmentation are often mass-produced, and do not always fit their user that well. However, the rise of low-cost manufacturing and improved CAD/CAM interfaces enable more personalised human augmentation. In this workshop we will explore making appropriate extensions for human ability. We will touch on microcontrollers, sensors and embedded systems.

Target audience:
Motivated students interested in hardware development and field of electronics – those with a predefined project proposal that can be implemented will be given preference.

Structure:
Day1:Brainstorming
Day2-5:Tutorial and hands on designing
Day5-12:Working on specific project under the guidance of highly qualified academicians.

Output:
In the end, students are expected to come up with a hardware design to help solve the identified problem and present a term paper, explaining their observations and learning experience during the period.

Track 2 3D Designing, Animation and Graphics

Aim:
Animate your imaginations and see them getting real; this is the place to be if you want to see your imagination come true. Get your website talking, moving and communicating with the out-of-the-box .Build your own message conveying style and make a distinct position in the crowded world of Internet. Learn to make movies and make things move, shake and dance. If you are a creative designer with a bent for technology this is the track for you.
Target audience:
Students from even non engineering background who are working in animation or have interest in simulating real objects .
Structure:
Day 1- 6: Lecture and Demo Lab sessions ( Maya -3D,Flash -2D)
Day7-12: Working on a specific design problem
Output:
In the end, students are expected to present an animated movie using any platform being taught and present a term paper, explaining future possibilities in the field and learning experience during the period.

Track 3: Mobile Research

Aim:
To educate students on the basic concepts of Applet Designing. This  track focuses more on designing rather than development. The main motive is to discuss the needs of applets and their increasing craze specially among youth. What design parameters should be kept in mind to make it a marketable product, to discuss available platforms for such development like Android and finally bring out their creativity to design  particular app.on which they would be mentored and taught the coding part needed. So if mobile games and apps are something you are freaky about this is the track for you.

Target Audience:
Specifically students with a creative bent as well as enthusiasm for coding – most students in the IT and CS branch will be targeted.

Structure:
Day1-2: Mobile Commerce and ongoing work
Day3-4: Available platforms and their specialties
Day 5-12: Development of an app.-software will be provided.

Output:
By the end, students are expected to present an app.which is interesting and present a term paper, explaining future possibilities and ideas to take their work forward to make it a product .
