Part 1: A talk on “Techno Entrepreneurship in the era of new Knowledge Economy ”. The talk will address the new knowledge economy and several motivational aspects of team building, S Curve phenomenon which is very relevant for IT and telecom students and professionals. ICT is full of events based primarily on communicating processed data (image or speech) on some particular network. IEEE Student Branch of DAIICT is organizing a full day workshop on applications of simulations of such events falling under the purview of ICT. Workshop is organized with the aim of highlighting the widespread use of simulations for verification and modeling in the field of ICT.

While the field of image processing deals with processing of digital images that are two-dimensional entities, computer vision adds the third dimension by computing the depth of the object. With a view to promote research and developmental activities in India in computer vision and image processing and the related fields by assembling experts and the researchers of the fields under one umbrella, a two-day national level seminar is proposed.

Prof. K. R. Rao (Inventor of popularly known transform DCT) visited Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar from 09-01-2006 to 12-01-2006. During his visit Prof. Rao conducted a Workshop on MPEG - History and Current Trends.

This symposium will focus on standards developed for providing data services in AN/AS. It will cover the fundaments of UMTS Rel 99 and HSDPA – the standards of 3GPP, and cdma2001xRTT and 1xEV-DO – the standards evolved by 3GPP2 and QualComm.

The performance in the last hop (AN/AS) – between the access node and the base station – plays a vital role in the end-to-end communication and varies in different standards of 3GPP and 3GPP2. Hence one needs to have through knowledge of it to optimize the network performance.

The Two Day Intensive Workshop on Embedded Systems, hosted by DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, with the support of the IEEE Gujarat Section and the IEEE Student Branch, DA-IICT, purports to involve students in a cohesive drive with the academia and industry towards excellence in embedded systems technology. The motive of this workshop was to provide attendees with a platform from which to expand research horizons in the embedded systems domain; covering a spectrum of very promising fields.
